I think there was a poi
nt where the park actually spanned San Diego and Tijuana, before the border fence went up? I’d need google maps to find it though.

I despise San Diego for personal reasons, but it seems like an okay place.

Looks like it may have. “Parque de la amistad” translating to friendship park.
It’s sorta sad. There’s street view at one point in each park.
The Mexican side you’re right on the beach, next to the gigantic ugly fence. But there are people running around on the beach, playing, having a good time.
On the U S side, the park is vacant except for a single Border Patrol Tahoe. It’s further back from the fence, so you can see the ugliness stretching a couple hundred feet out into the ocean. No one’s on the beach.

1994, according to Wikipedia. I can’t believe that within my lifetime there was a point where there was a wide open border with Mexico.
That park’s name drips with irony now.

I hope the park is re-united in my lifetime, honestly crossing the border shouldn’t be so hard

Sometimes I wonder if people realize what they're choosing.

Well, both possibilities are equally terrifying.
